The term of the current Board of Directors of Nansemond River High School PTSA expires in May. In order to continue the PTSA at Nansemond River we need to find individuals that might be interested in serving on the board.
Just a bit of information on the PTSA activities this school year:
This year we have been able to hold a successful Reflections program with both of our top entries advancing to the District judging level and our literature entry advanced to the State level. The PTSA recognized our students with a Reflections reception in February.
In November, thanks to the efforts of our Driver Education teachers, we had our most successful Driver Education program ever. We had a phenomenal turn out by our students and parents with over 100 participating.
We were able to hold two successful silent auctions, thanks to your support. Again, thanks to your support, we held two successful Jean Days.
Chris Kettner and Susannah Theo will be our guest speakers at our March meeting (3/31). They will be speaking to our assembly about preparing for the work world including interview preparation, selling oneself to a prospective employer, appearance, resume, etc. We look forward to an exciting evening with Mr. Kettner and Ms. Theo.
We are excited that we have been able to reinstate our scholarship program this year and will be offering a $500.00 scholarship to a NRHS Senior.
Plans are in the works for a spring fundraiser with the emphasis on “FUN.” We are hoping that the staff will want to participate and a good time will be guaranteed.
Preparations for the After Prom are well on their way. Staff and parent volunteers are welcome.
We want the NRHS PTSA to continue its successes; however, we need to have people that are interested in carrying on the PTA mission. We would appreciate if you would contact parents (or maybe yourself!) that you feel might be interested in serving on the Board next year and have them contact me at 638-0723 or through my e-mail at newyoung65@verizon.net (however, I do prefer direct contact versus e-mail).
We would like to have a possible Board lined up to present to the assembly on March 31st. Elections and Officers installation will be in May. We will need a President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. Ideally, a Reflections Chairperson, Programs Chairperson, Ways and Means Chairperson, After Prom Chairperson would round out the Board nicely.
