If you would like to apply for any of the scholarships listed in this bulletin, complete a scholarship request form, available from 12th grade English and Government Teachers and in the Guidance Office.  Applications / information will be returned to you within two or three days.

East-West University Challenge Scholarship
Amount:         Unspecified
Criteria:         Applicants to East-West University, Chicago, IL, can take part in the East-West University Challenge Bowl and be eligible.

Virginia Military Institute Scholarship

Amount:         From $5000 per year to full tuition, fees, room, board, and book supplement.
Criteria:         VMI applicants are eligible based on minimum GPA of 3.7, minimum SAT score of 1300 or 29+ on ACT, rank in top 10% for Class of 2010
Deadline:        Applicants are invited to interview for the Institute and Superintendent’s Scholar Programs.

Johnson & Wales University National Student Association Scholarships

Amount:         Scholarships are up to and including full tuition.
Criteria:         Applicant must apply to Johnson & Wales University.  Applicant must have been a member of a National Student Organization, such as FBLA, DECA, TSA, FCCLA, or FFA.

Churchland Tigers Pop Warner Football / Cheerleading Scholarship

Amount:         1 award of $500 to a male student
                        1 award of $500 to a female student
Criteria:         Applicant must have participated for at least two years in the Churchland Football Association program and be in good standing with the organization.  Minimum GPA of 3.0 is required.  Enrollment in a two  year degree program or four year degree program in the fall of 2010 is a requirement.

Criteria:         Applicant must be a dependent of an active duty enlisted person (E-1-E-9). Minimum G.P.A of 2.5,evidence of community service, 1 page essay, full time high school student.

Bachelor of Science: Commercial Music Technology California University of Pennsylvania has initiated a new Bachelor degree program in commercial music technology.

Camp Lighthouse a program of the Sentara Hospice Program, is having a two day event to assist students and parents in ways to cope with grief.

College of William and Marry Pre-Collegiate Summer Program in Early American History
Open to high school junior and seniors. Study of American History From Jamestown through the American Revolution or From the American Revolution through the Civil War. Two 3 week session are offered. Sorenson Institute for Political Leadership at the University of Virginia is a two week, tuition based, residential experience for students interested politics.  If you are interested in being nominated, see Mrs. Williams in Guidance.

MIT Summer Research Program Massachusetts Institute of Technology is offering the opportunity for high school sophomores and juniors who are interested in Science and Engineering to attend an eight week residential program.  Programs targets minority students.  Information is available at: http://web.mit.edu/odge/msrp

The Virginia State Parks Youth Conservation Corps is providing a service / learning opportunity for youth aged 14 – 17.  Students live and work in State Parks for the summer.  Housing, meals and a stipend of $500 are provided.  Visit:
