ADEQUATE YEARLY PROGRESS

Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) is one component of the No Child Left Behind Legislative Act. In order for a school to meet AYP, it must meet its state’s AYP benchmarks in reading and math in all subgroups specified by No Child Left Behind. The subgroups include All students, White students, African-American students, Students with Disabilities, Limited English Proficient students, and Economically Disadvantaged students.
