John F. Kennedy FCCLA visits Autumn Care Nursing Home

On Thursday, Monday, May 15, during national nursing home week students from John F. Kennedy Middle School visited Autumn Care Nursing Home. The students assisted patients with games during their recreational time. Also, the club presented two fruit gift baskets to the nursing home. This was a community activity for the club. The students really enjoyed themselves.


Career Day - John Cash Visits Forest Glen

Wavy 10 meteorologist Jon Cash visited Forest Glen Middle School on Tuesday, February 14. His presentation on career choices and his experiences with being a TV weatherman were part of Forest Glen’s annual Career and Technical Education week activities.


FCCLA Students Help Serve the PTA

Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) students at Forest Glen Middle School have begun the school year busily preparing cookies for the PTA Open House. They are shown in the pictures serving punch and cookies. Also, shown is the presentation of the table decorations.


A Red Cross Presentation at FGMS

Red Cross Representative, Lisa Harrell visited the FACS classes At FGMS. Her presentation was entitled "Til Help Arrives" and many topics were discussed. Emergency Procedures explained included rescue breathing, emergency actions steps, recognition of emergencies and the Heimlich Maneuver.

Cadet Lee Saunders Speaks to 8th Grade FACS class at FGMS

Cadet Lee Saunders, 3rd class student at Virginia Military Institute and 2003 graduate of Lakeland High School, spoke on goal setting and the importance of making good decisions early in high school. He also gave a most informative talk on VMI, his experiences, and the importance of a VMI education. A question and answer period followed his talk. The students benefited greatly and asked many questions.


A Holiday Treat at FGMS

Sixth grade students of Forest Glen Family and Consumer Science classes gather to enjoy a holiday treat of caramel apples that were prepared by the students. This activity was the culmination of their classroom study of the food pyramid and nutritious snacks.
