Mock Trial - The State of Arizona vs. Terry Jackson
November 3, 2005

In the case of The State of Arizona vs. Terry Jackson, the Nansemond River High School jury finds the defendant not guilty of negligent homicide!

Nansemond River High School students were assigned the task of analyzing a case, developing a defense, formulating a witness list and creating evidence in preparation for a mock trial. The mock trial was a collaborative effort initiated by Mrs. Scott-Darden (Business Law Teacher) and Officer Weaver (Resource Officer). All of the participants are currently enrolled in Mrs. Scott-Darden’s Business Law class, Mr. Goin’s U. S. Government, class and Mrs. Francis’ U. S. History class. Mrs. Voncia Gould (Resource Teacher) served as the judge in the case.

Prior to the mock trial, the Business Law students went on a field trip to the Mills E. Godwin Courts Building. They had an opportunity to witness an actual trial and were given a private audience with Suffolk’s Commonwealth’s Attorney!
