Family and Consumer Sciences courses are designed to prepare students for family life, work life, and careers in the field by providing opportunities to develop the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors needed for becoming responsible citizens, family leaders, and community leaders.

The Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, Inc. (FCCLA) is the student organization designed to promote personal growth and leadership development through character development, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communication, practical knowledge, and career and technical education preparation.

To affiliate and participate in FCCLA activities sponsored by the state and national organizations, students must hold paid membership in the local FCCLA chapter at his/her high school. There are approximately 200 middle and high school students who hold membership in FCCLA for the 2004-2005 school year.
