Outstanding Career and Technical Education Student of the Year


Brittany N. Waller, senior at King’s Fork High School, has been named as Outstanding Career and Technical Education Student of the Year by the Suffolk Public Schools’ Advisory Council for Career and Technical Education. Mr. John Cotton, Chairman of the Advisory Council and Safety Director with Ciba Specialty Chemicals presented Miss Waller with a congratulatory letter at the Advisory Council’s meeting on May 11, 2005. She will receive a cash award from Ciba Specialty Chemicals.

The daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Wendell Waller, Brittany has completed several advanced academic courses, summer advanced programs, and career and technical education courses during her high school studies. She is involved in several extracurricular activities and is a recipient of many awards to include: Pilot Club Certificate of Merit Award 2004, PTSA Reflection Contest Award 2003, Superintendent’s Christmas Card Contest 2003, Academic Award 2003, and Presidential Honor Roll Award 2001. Her artwork has been exhibited in the Suffolk News Herald, at the Suffolk Art Museum and at Paul D. Camp Community College (Oliver K. Hobbs Campus). In 2003, Brittany participated in the Drawing Class Oswego Art Institute Summer Program and the Fabric Design Class Oswego Art Institute Summer Program.

Miss Waller will pursue her career goal to become a fashion designer at Savannah College of Art & Design in Atlanta, Georgia.
