TECH PREP

Tech Prep provides opportunities for all students to prepare for work and further learning by linking education with business, industry, labor, government, and the community.

  • combines a minimum of two years of secondary education (as determined under State law) with a minimum of two years of post secondary education in a non-duplicative, sequential course of study; with a common core of required proficiency in mathematics, science, reading, writing, communications, and technologies designed to lead to an associate’s degree or a post secondary certificate in a specific career field;
  • links secondary schools and two-year post secondary institutions, and if possible and practicable, four-year institutions of higher education through non-duplicative sequences of courses in career fields;

Additional Component in Suffolk Public Schools

  • Foreign Language (two years) is required for the Tech Prep seal in Suffolk Public Schools. Foreign Language is important for competing in a global marketplace and for continuing education beyond high school graduation.
