SCIENCE - RISK WATCH

“Risk Watch” seeks to prevent the major unintentional injuries that threaten children in this age group. Following is a list of topics that is addressed at each elementary grade level (K-5) by your child’s teacher throughout the school year:

• Motor vehicle safety
• Fire and burn prevention
• Choking, suffocation, and strangulation prevention
• Poisoning prevention
• Falls prevention
• Firearms injury prevention
• Bike and pedestrian safety
• Water safety

The “Risk Watch” curriculum is approved by Suffolk Public Schools’ School Board.

The Suffolk Fire Department works with Suffolk Public Schools to ensure the curriculum is presented to students across the city.
