Tips for reducing test anxiety

  • Take practice exams. 
      •  Quiz yourself on material.
      • Practice timing yourself for a timed test. 
      • Write down important formulas, facts, definitions and key words.
  • Practice relaxation techniques. 
      • Take several deep breaths and exhale slowly.
      • Close your eyes and visualize a peaceful setting
      • Tense your arms for a count of five and then relax. 
  • Engage in positive self talk.

      • “I studied and I am prepared.”
      • “I am going to work at my own pace until I am done.”
  • Work at your own pace.  
      • Concentrate on your own test and not others. 
      • Skip difficult items and try them later.
      • Don’t rush. Read each question carefully.
