Week 3

Prepare your children for learning

  • Help your children set goals.  Setting personal goals helps them to “Think Smart”.  Start with small, easy accessible goals and build up to more difficult goals.
  • Make sure your children get 8 hours of sleep a night in order to re-energize the brain.  Lack of sleep affects how children learn and reduces their ability to concentrate, retain information and develop long-term memory.  “Sleep Smart”.
  • Teach your children to “Eat Smart”.  Children learn and retain information by increasing intake of fruits, vegetables, and complex carbohydrates and reducing fats and sugars.
  • Water is a key ingredient to helping your children’s body systems and especially their brain work better.  Drinking water throughout the day keeps the brain hydrated so, “Drink Smart”.
