PARENT-SCHOOL COMPACT
Every
Title I school has a Parent-School Compact, which is a jointly
developed agreement between the parent, teacher, and student.
The compact outlines what teachers and parents need to do to help
children meet the school’s academic standards. This agreement
give parents an opportunity to be involved in their children’s
education and it lets parents know what the school is doing to
meet its educational goals.
The compact explains how parents can be
partners with the school.
- Be a school volunteer
- Join a parent organization such as the PTA or the Title I
Parent Advisory Council
- Attend parent workshops and parent-teacher conferences
- Encourage your child to follow school rules.
The school has responsibilities under the
compact, too.
- Make school a positive place
- Work towards excellence
- Make school requirements clear
- Support learning through homework and special program services
- after-school activities
- adult education programs
- parent workshops
- flexible meeting times
What about students’ responsibilities? Children
do better in school when they have the combined support of teachers,
other staff, and parents. In the compact, children agree to abide
by the following rules.
-
Complete all school work
-
Come to school prepared
-
Show respect.
