The Parent Resource
Center, funded by Title I, Part A under the provisions of
the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, recognizes the importance
of family involvement in education. Its primary objective
is to increase parental involvement in children's learning
and empower parents to join the educational system. This department
collaborates with school personnel and families to develop
partnerships that connect families, schools, and the community
through parent training workshops, resource materials, and
helpful information. The program supports home instruction
and tutorials. Qualified staff is available to offer support
strategies to parents on homework help, test-taking tips,
discipline and coping skills.

 Can
you…
Tell stories to children?
Make bulletin boards?
Prepare learning materials?
Help with special events?

If you can do any of these things, you can
be a volunteer! If you are interested in becoming a volunteer
or have any parent involvement ideas, please stop by the Parent
Resource Center or call Bonnie Maki, parent relations facilitator, at (757) 925-6759. Together, we can help all students achieve success. |
