Citizen Helper And Mentor Program
BTW welcomes the efforts of volunteers who contribute to our program through C.H.A.M.P. Many individuals offer their time and expertise as tutors, chaperones, classroom helpers, and speakers.
Preparing students to be productive citizens is a major goal at Booker T. Washington. To achieve this goal, staff, students, parents and concerned members of the community must work in a collaborative effort. C.H.A.M.P. is designed to enrich our educational program by allowing individuals an opportunity to contribute their time, talent, skill, and knowledge to help achieve our overall school goals. Many opportunities for student growth are enhanced when volunteers take the time to assist in our classrooms. There is a great deal of personal satisfaction in knowing that you, as a concerned citizen, have played a vital role in the life of a student.
C.H.A.M.P. volunteers are people in the community who can share their time to make Booker T. Washington Elementary the best school it can possibly be. They are parents, grandparents, guardians, relatives, civic groups, business organizations, retired teachers, and community members who want to help our school provide the best possible education for all our students. C.H.A.M.P. volunteers are people who have a genuine love for children, spare time to contribute, and a willingness to work under the professional guidance of a teacher for the betterment of our students.
C.H.A.M.P. volunteers give their time when it is convenient for them to do so. Volunteers provide services from 9:00a.m. until 3:00p.m. as their schedule allows. Schedules are arranged to fit the needs of the classes and volunteers involved.
You may volunteer in any of these areas, or ask where you are needed the most.
Arts and Crafts, Audio-Visual Assistant, Clerical Assistant, Counselor's Assistant, Field Trip Chaperone, Reading Tutor, Mathematics Tutor, Physical Education Assistant, Mentor, Story Teller, Resource Volunteer, Special Education Volunteer, Kindergarten Volunteer, and Campus Beautification. We are always looking for 'talented' members of our community! If you have a special talent, and would like to volunteer your time, you can let us know by sending an e-mail, phoning school, stopping by, or have your student inform his or her teacher. You will need to fill out a short volunteer registration form. We hope to see many new volunteers in the future!!
