Partners in Education
King’s Fork Middle School
2007-08

King’s Fork Middle School participates in the Suffolk Public Schools’ Partners in Education program.  The mission and goals of this program are to develop an alliance between Suffolk’s public schools and the Suffolk business and civic community to enhance and enrich education by sharing knowledge, expertise and resources.

We are pleased to currently have five local businesses that have agreed to partner with our school for the 2007-08 school year.  The partnership agreements suggest ways that a partner may be able to help the school, and also things that the school may provide for the partner.  In years past, previous partners have done such things as--

  1. provided judges for the science fair and/or invention fair
  2. provided career day speakers
  3. furnished items related to their business and/or money for student recognition projects

In turn, our school has--

  1. highlighted the partner’s activities in the school newsletter
  2. provided artwork for a company’s display
  3. provided musical entertainment for special events

A Partner in Education group may also use the school facility free of charge for recreation, special events, meetings, etc.

The SPS Partners in Education program is a positive way for businesses, civic organizations and volunteers to work together to foster a better understanding of public education, and to ultimately improve student achievement.
