Dear Parents\Guardians

I am very excited to be the new principal of Mack Benn, Jr. Elementary School!  I began my teaching career in the Norfolk Public Schools in 1991 where I taught fourth grade for seven years and served as a Math Specialist for one year and an Instructional Specialist for four years. I’m thrilled to be the new principal after serving for three years as an assistant principal at Driver Elementary School and one and a half years here at Mack Benn. 

My personal interests and strengths match up well with those of Mack Benn. I have a passion for children and I look forward to being a more integral part of the Mack Benn community, where I can continue to develop my interests and skills in an environment that encourages and supports learning.  I believe in this era of global change an understanding of our impact on our global community is critical if we are to be responsible citizens.  Lastly, I am excited to help facilitate the Reading First program.  My passion is reading, and I have seen first hand the richness and advantages in being able to read at an early age.

I am greatly anticipating having an opportunity to work closely with the students and parents.  In addition, I look forward to being a part of a faculty with an excellent reputation dedicated to challenging students academically and nurturing them socially and emotionally.
