The National Spanish Honor
Society, sponsored by the American Association of teachers of
Spanish and Portuguese, was formally organized in 1953.
Its purpose is to recognize high student achievement in Spanish
and to promote a continuity of interest in Hispanic Studies.
During the school year 2004-2005, Nansemond River High School
was accepted and recognized as a new chapter of the society.
