Welcome to the 21st Cen- tury, granted you’ve been told this many times already. However, in this new century we have seen tremendous change in our way of thinking about this tiny blue planet of ours, the only one known to support us. Look around you, there are no exits; no escape from the degradation we are causing. Each time you turn on the news or read a newspaper, there is a new chemical spill, a new recall for lead paint on our children’s toys, mercury poisoning in our tuna fish, increased carbon dioxide emissions, a new cause of cancer created by our newest pollutant, increased endangered species (I believe the recent article said 200 more added to the |

endangered list), CFC’s and other halogens eating away at the ozone layer (our protector from skin cancer). We cannot ignore it any longer, so welcome to the new way of thinking Green Hampton Roads!
