Northern Shores Elementary

Mission Statement

Our vision at Northern Shores Elementary School is to launch every student into a lifetime of learning in which they are capable of competing and thinking critically in a rapidly changing, complex, and technological world. NSES follows all mandates of the No Child Left Behind act, and has met state accreditation for five years.

Our mission is to provide all students with challenging opportunities and experiences which enable them to succeed academically, socially, physically, and emotionally. Administrators, faculty, staff, parents, and the surrounding community will share the responsibility of building a safe, nurturing, and empowering school environment where students are always encouraged and guided as they strive to realize their fullest potential.

Since NSES opened in 1996, we have always strived to stay on the cusp of new and exciting trends in learning. We use many forms of assessments to ensure that all students are given the correct challenges and assistance needed to achieve mastery in the content areas. STAR reading and math are both utilized, as well as  the latest version of Accelerated Reader. Many classes will also use Accelerated Math this year to further individualize the learning process. PALS testing will continue in kindergarten through third grade, and new local assessments have been added in some grade levels. State SOL testing also continues in the third, fourth, and fifth grade.
