Contributing to the overall success of Nansemond Parkway are seven Partners-in-Education — Ciba Specialty Chemicals, Nansemond Credit Union, Suffolk Fire Station No. 10, Arthur’s Sweet Pickle, Triple T Gymnastics, Chick-fil-A, the Virginia Extension Service, Backyard Burgers, and NewLife Suffolk. This strong partnership program provides academic tutors, mentors for at-risk students, field trips, career day speakers, technological support, and special assembly programs.

In 2006, more than 250 men signed on to volunteer at least one day a year through a new program called Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads Of Great Students).  The effort was a success and will continue in 2007-08.

Students are continuing to excel in reading through Accelerated Reader, a computerized reading program geared towards improving student reading levels. As a program incentive, an A.R. store was created so students can redeem points in exchange for prizes earned on the computerized comprehension tests.
