of Learning (SOLs) are a framework of basic skills students
in each grade level should learn in English, math, science,

The SOL tests are given
each spring to measure students' success in meeting
these state standards. The 2007 benchmark for elementary grades is a 75% pass rate in English, 70% in math, 70% in science and 70% in history.
