Principal's Desk

Welcome to Southwestern Elementary School, home of the Chiefs!  

I hope everyone had an exciting as well as restful summer and is looking forward to a new and exhilarating experience this year.  I am so excited to be able to say that Southwestern Elementary School is once again FULLY ACCREDITED!  CONGRATULATIONS!  WE DID IT!  I do not have the words to express my appreciation for the efforts from students, parents, teachers, and support staff in working so very hard to reach this important milestone.

Teamwork and commitment are two key factors in the success of any program and they are key to the success of our students.  We at Southwestern are committed to working as a team to ensure the success of all our students.  It is my desire to join our efforts with those of our parents and community to establish an even greater support system for our students thus guaranteeing their success.  I hope that you will commit to becoming a part of our team.  Please remember that one way to help us to continue our successful track is to ensure that your child(ren) come to school regularly and remain at school for the full academic day.  Research shows that children who are in school most of the time do better on state tests.  This may mean trying to avoid picking your student up early and bringing them to school late.  Please remember that our instructional day does not stop at 3:00.  If it is at all possible try not to pick your student up at this time.  Calling into classroom causes a distraction to the instructional program of your student as well as the other students in the classroom. 

Again, we want to continue to keep our students on a successful academic track. Thank you for your continued support!
