Posted on 12/10/2020

The Suffolk Public Schools Food and Nutrition Services Department is hosting the third "Nourishing Our Neighbors" on Thursday, December 17, at Booker T. Washington Elementary School from 3 pm - 5 pm. In partnership with the Food Bank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore, "Nourishing Our Neighbors" allows SPS to provide fresh produce to families at no cost.

This is a drive-thru event. Please be aware of volunteers wearing bright orange vests, who will be directing traffic. All produce items will be prepped and packaged separately.

In September, members of
our Food and Nutrition Services team distributed fresh broccoli, potatoes, and clementine. During the month of November, the team provided collard greens, sweet potatoes, apples and brussle sprouts. For the month of December, Food and Nutrition Services will distribute carrots, red potatoes, collard greens and apples.
Children do not need to be present to receive produce items. Please follow all CDC guidelines, including wearing a mask.

A special thank you goes out to our Food and Nutritional Services team!
