Communities In Schools
Communities In Schools (CIS) partners with Suffolk Public Schools to ensure students have the support they need to succeed—both in and out of the classroom. Through a school-based, student-centered approach, CIS connects students and families with academic, social-emotional, and basic-needs resources that remove barriers to learning.
CIS site coordinators work directly within SPS schools to identify student needs, provide case management, deliver targeted interventions, and connect families to community services such as mentoring, tutoring, mental health supports, food assistance, and college and career readiness resources. By building strong partnerships with local agencies, businesses, and volunteers, CIS helps strengthen the network of support surrounding each student—promoting attendance, engagement, academic achievement, and overall well-being across Suffolk Public Schools.
