Special Education Advisory Committee

The functions of the Special Education Advisory Committee are to:

  • Advise the school division of unmet needs in the education of children with disabilities
  • Assist the Suffolk Public Schools in the formulation and development of long-range plans which will provide services needed for children with disabilities in the Suffolk Public Schools and the community
  • Participate in the development of priorities and strategies for meeting the identified needs of children with disabilities
  • Submit periodic reports and recommendations to the Suffolk Public School Board through the division superintendent regarding the education of children with disabilities
  • Assist the Suffolk Public Schools in interpreting the community plans for meeting the needs of children with disabilities for educational advancement


The Special Education Advisory Committee meetings are open to the public, and are held in the King's Fork Middle School library media center, unless announced otherwise, beginning at 6:30 p.m. on the following dates:

  • September 16, 2020

  • May 19, 2021 - This meeting will be held in person at King's Fork Middle School for those interested in attending in-person. Please observe mitigation strategies (attendees must wear a mask and practice social distancing.)  Those wishing to attend virtually may do so by visiting the virtual meeting link.
