We're Hiring: Associate Teachers

Suffolk Public Schools (SPS) is actively seeking passionate individuals to join our team as Associate Teachers, offering a valuable opportunity for aspiring educators to gain hands-on classroom experience while working toward full teaching licensure.

Openings for Associate Teachers are available at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. Candidates must:

  • Hold a bachelor's degree and demonstrate successful experience working with students in a classroom setting.
  •  must commit to pursuing a Virginia teaching license within a one-year employment term.

As part of this initiative, Associate Teachers must:

  • Enroll in coursework leading to licensure within 30 days of their acceptance into the program.
  • Commit to working within Suffolk Public Schools for a minimum of two years upon obtaining eligibility for a teaching license.

The role of an Associate Teacher aligns closely with traditional teaching responsibilities, ensuring consistency in classroom instruction and student support. SPS will provide ongoing guidance through quarterly meetings with Human Resources to track progress toward licensure and professional development.
