Congratulations on recent accomplishments by these fine arts programs: 

Congratulations to these talented high school students for being selected to represent Suffolk Public Schools in the Virginia Choral Directors Association district choir.  In addition, these high schools students are also eligible for auditioning for the All-Virginia Choir:

Congratulations to the King's Fork High School Mighty Marching Bulldogs Band and director Bernard Bradley as they participated in the Nansemond River High School Warrior Classic Band Day on Saturday, November 9, 2019.   The band received the following awards: Class AAA - 3rd place flags; Class AAA - 1st place majorettes; Class AAA - 1st place dancers; Class AAA - 1st place drum major; Class AAA - 1st place percussion; Class AAA - 1st place band; Overall Grand Champion trophy for the event.  

Congratulations to the Lakeland High School Marching "Quiet Storm" Band and director Alvin Wilson as they participated in the Nansemond River High School Warrior Classic Band Day on Saturday, November 9, 2019.    The band received the following awards: Class A - 1st place flags; Class A - 1st place majorettes; Class A - 1st place dancers; Class A 1st place drum major;  Class A - 1st place percussion; Class A - 1st place band; Overall 3rd place grand trophy.  

 



Congratulations to the Nansemond River High School Magnificent Marching Warriors who participated in the King's Fork High School Kennel Classic this past Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019.  NRHS received the following awards in Class AAAA: 1st Place Percussion; 1st Place Drum Major; 2nd Place Overall Band; 2nd Place Marching Maneuvering, and General Effect; 2nd Place Music All schools/Open Class: 2nd Place Majorettes. 

Congratulations to the Lakeland High School Marching "Quiet Storm" Band who participated in the King's Fork High School Kennel Classic this past Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019.  LHS received the following awards in Class AA: 3rd place flags; 2nd place band; 2nd place band music; 1st place majorettes; 1st place dancers; 1st place percussion; 1st place band marching and maneuvering; 1st place drum major.



Congratulations to the King’s Fork High School competitive theatre team who placed 3rd in the VHSL 4A-Region A North Theatre Festival held recently at Warhill High School.  Not only did KFHS place, two students won two Outstanding Actor Awards -- Cody Saunders and Christian Edwards.   

Congratulations to the Nansemond River Magnificent Marching Warriors for their recent honors at the Highland Springs High School Band Competition.  After a successful performance supporting the community at Driver Days, the band received all first-place awards for majorettes, flags, dance, drumline, drum major, music and general effect … leading to earning the title of “Overall Grand Champion.”   

Congratulations to the Lakeland High School Marching Quiet Storm Band on their honors at the Bertie County Band Competition.  Out of 12 bands, Lakeland received first-place awards for Band AA Division, percussion, and flags; and third place for marching and maneuvering; plus a Superior Rating overall.  In addition, the Lakeland band received first-place band in the Suffolk Peanut Fest Parade.   

Congratulations to the King’s Fork Mighty Marching Bulldogs for these competition honors at the Hopewell High School Wonder City Classic. The band earned first-place recognition in the AAA category for majorettes, dance, drum majors, and overall band; plus second-place honors for flags, percussion and general effect.  Altogether, the King’s Fork band was named Grand Champion for highest overall score at the event – the second time in the event’s three-year history.
