Suffolk Public Schools Partner with Suffolk Transit to Provide 200 Free Bus Passes for Families in Need
In a move aimed at easing transportation barriers for local families, Suffolk Public Schools received 200 free all-day bus passes for parents and guardians in need. The passes, provided by Suffolk Transit, can be used on any Suffolk Transit route throughout 2025, offering increased access to jobs, medical appointments, and vital community services.
“The primary goal is to help families who may be struggling with transportation obstacles,” said Anthonette Dickens, Suffolk Public Schools Community Engagement Officer. “We hope this gesture will enable more parents and guardians to stay connected—to their child’s school activities, essential appointments, and employment opportunities. This partnership allows us to continue removing barriers so that all of our students and families can thrive”
The bus passes will be distributed to parents and guardians who demonstrate transportation needs that might otherwise limit their engagement with their children’s education. Interested families can request a pass by visiting www.suffolkva.us/buspass or contact Suffolk Transit at (757) 214-6442.
With both Suffolk Public Schools and Suffolk Transit hopeful that this program will serve as a catalyst for improved educational engagement, the free bus passes stand to make a long-lasting impact on families throughout the city.
