Remote Learning Handbook

Learning Continues, Wherever Students Are

At Suffolk Public Schools, we are committed to ensuring students continue learning even when circumstances prevent traditional in-person instruction. In the event of inclement weather, emergency school closures, public health concerns, or other situations that impact school operations, Suffolk Public Schools may implement a Remote Learning Day to maintain continuity of instruction and minimize disruptions to student learning.

The SPS Continuity of Learning: Remote Learning Handbook provides important information for students, families, and staff regarding expectations, instructional delivery, attendance, grading, technology, and available supports during remote learning days.

What is Remote Learning?

Remote learning allows teaching and learning to continue outside of the school building through digital and non-digital instructional methods. Students may engage in:

  • Teacher-directed lessons
  • Online assignments through Canvas
  • Live or recorded instruction
  • Independent learning activities
  • Collaborative projects
  • Offline assignments that do not require internet access
