Lakeland High School student scientists try the Mentos and Diet Coke experiment, but also did different candy and soda flavors for comparison. First-graders at Oakland Elementary created their own Lady Liberty torches for the school's Patriotic Day celebration. How does your garden grow?   Oakland Elementary students are allowed to get their hands dirty as part of their real-world lessons in plant development. These Booker T. Washington students took advantage of a beautiful fall day to take their lesson about wind direction outside. Oceanography students at Lakeland High constructed boats from classroom supplies and then tested to see if they would sink or float.
