Volunteers from BASF chemical company are sharing hands-on science experiments with elementary students across the city. More than 200 elementary students participated in the local Little Feet Meet.  See story in News  and Notes above. Students at Booker T. Washington Elementary will present the musical At the Bandstand on Friday, May 1. Theater students from Nansemond River High helped them paint sets, learn songs, and practice choreography. Mack Benn, Jr. Elementary students practice their science lessons by planting a garden with flowers, carrots, eggplant, tomatoes, and okra. Congratulations to student winners from John Yeates Middle, Lakeland High, King's Fork High, and Nansemond River High in the recent Proud to Be an American essay contest sponsored by the Fleet Reserve Association.
