Parent Pick-Up and Drop-Off Procedures

  • Hillpoint Arrival Procedures

    • School doors open at 9:00 a.m. Students should not arrive before this time, including waiting by the main entrance. 
    • The instructional day begins at 9:25 a.m. Students arriving after 9:25 will be considered tardy
    • Prior to 9:25 a.m, please do not let students out of your vehicle to walk across the parking lot independently. You are expected to wait in line and drop students off at the curb. 
    • Starting at 9:25, parents should plan to park and walk their student to the door to sign a tardy slip. 
    • Students exiting the car should do so on the passenger's side, not the driver's side. 
    • Students should be able to open their own door; if they are unable, please turn on your flashers so we know to come and assist.
    • You may not park in the drop-off line
    • If you need to access the office or the nurse prior to 9:25, you must park in the parking lot. 

    Hillpoint Dismissal Procedures

    • Please always have a valid ID each time you come to pick up your child. 
    • Please stay in your vehicle at all times and stay in the tagged pick-up line. 
    • Please keep tag numbers displayed in/on your windshield visible to the staff.  It is necessary for matching each child to the correct vehicle.
    • If replacement tags are needed, please communicate with your child’s teacher.
    • Please be on time. Tagged pick-up is from 3:50 - 4:15 pm.  If you come after this time, you must park and come inside to collect your child.
    • Early Start and Kindergarten students will not be approved to walk per school division policy. Students must live in the immediate Hillpoint Farms neighborhood in order to walk. 
    • Tag Pick-up will begin promptly at 3:50. We are asking parents not to line up prior to 3:30 in the school parking lot.
    • Any parent who picks up their child before dismissal must do so by 3:30. At 3:30, any parent picking up their student must join the car line. This is to ensure student safety and smooth building dismissal procedures.
    • Please remember that repeatedly picking your child up prior to 3:50 results in lost instructional time. 
    • It is strongly recommended by SPS that parents select one primary method of transportation for students to ensure consistency.

    Parking Lot and Traffic Safety

    • Do not pass cars at the drop-off line.
    • All traffic should move in the same direction.
    • Do not enter the bus ramp.
    • Please enter the parking lot with a right turn from Hillpoint Road only.

    Dismissal Changes

    • Requests to change your child’s dismissal method must be submitted in writing. Phone requests will not be accepted.
    • A signed parent note sent with the student or an email to the office staff and classroom teacher is required.
    • The email must include a picture of the front and back of the parent/guardian ID and be sent by 12:00 p.m. to ensure we can accommodate the change.
    • If a change must be made after 12:00 p.m, please call the front office to ensure the message is received and shared with the classroom teacher.
