GAME DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT

    Prerequisite: Game Design and Development (8400)
    Credits: Three (3) Credits; 2nd Year of a two-year program

    Students who are interested in game design and animation should explore this exciting gaming program.  In addition, students will have to opportunity to demonstrate their creativity and problem solving skills.

    The Game Design and Development program will allow students to create innovative games through the application of graphic design, animation, audio, and writing skills.  Student will work in teams, while developing program-solving, critical thinking, and effective communication skills.  They will analyze, design, prototype, and critique interactive games within a project management environment. In addition, they will work collaboratively to refine their game design skills while applying learned skills to create innovative games for education and entertainment. Students will learn about career opportunities in game design and development an investigate the training and certifications requirements.

    Students will have the opportunity to take the Unity Certified Associate exam, qualifying them for an industry credential, pending a successful outcome on the exam.

    Employment Outlook: Employment of multimedia artists and animators is projected to grow 8 percent from 2016-2026, about as fast as the average for all occupations. Projected growth will be due to increased demand for animation and visual effects in video games, movies, and television. Job growth may be slowed; however, by companies hiring animators and artists who work overseas.
