The College and Career Academy At Pruden (CCAP) offers three (3) Special Programs to high school students enrolled in CCAP courses. Students interested in technology classes are encouraged to participate in The FIRST Governor’s STEM Academy and the Microsoft Imagine Academy. Students interested in the area of Construction Trades/Automotive Technology are encouraged to participate in the Hampton Roads Public Works Academy. The Academies listed above, provide students with scholarships, student internships, workplace readiness skills and college preparation.
The FIRST Governor’s Career and Technical Academy offers a program of study that is designed to expand options for students to acquire STEM (Science, Technology Engineering and Mathematics) literacy and other critical skills, knowledge and credentials that will prepare them for high-demand, high-wage, and high-skill careers.
The Public Works Academy (PWA) Cadet program is a two (2) year, hands-on program, geared toward high school students enrolled in The College & Career Academy At Pruden. The PWA consists of 32 major areas of coursers within the Department of Public Works and Utilities. Each class is taught by a Subject Matter Expert from that specific field of study. Students are required to complete a paid summer internship with the Department of Public Works and Utilities, or a member of the PWA program.
Microsoft Imagine Academy curricula is organized along learning paths that guide students and educators to earning industry-recognized certifications and skills needed for jobs of tomorrow. By learning a Microsoft Certification, students will be able to chart a career development path for ongoing Microsoft Skills.
