Dr. Tonya Spruill
Dr. Tonya L. Spruill is honored to serve as Assistant Principal at King’s Fork High School, where she provides leadership and oversight for 12th grade (Seniors), the History and Career & Technical Education (CTE) departments, the Graduation Coach, the Testing Coordinator, and the Guidance Department.
With over 21 years of experience in education, Dr. Spruill brings a wealth of knowledge and a deep commitment to student success. Her career has included a wide range of roles—from Receptionist and Secretary to Business and Information Technology Teacher, Graduation Coach, and Dean of Students. Each of these roles has uniquely prepared her to support students, staff, and families with empathy and excellence.
A proud native of Suffolk, Virginia, Dr. Spruill has built lasting relationships within the community and remains deeply invested in its growth and success. She holds a B.S. in Business Education from Norfolk State University, a Master of Divinity in Practical Theology from Regent University, an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Virginia Tech, and a Doctor of Theology from Kingdom Life Bible Institute and Regent University. She is currently completing her second doctoral degree (Ed.D.) at Virginia Tech, where her dissertation focuses on “The Attrition and Dropout of Black Male Students in High School.”
Dr. Spruill is a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She believes every student has the potential to thrive when they are seen, supported, and valued. Dr. Spruill is an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and is committed to the principles of Sisterhood, Scholarship, Service, and Social Action.
