SPS SATURDAY ACADEMY

  • Applications for the Suffolk Public Schools Saturday Academy Session for October 26 are NOW OPEN

    The purpose of the SPS Saturday Academy is to offer remediation and acceleration sessions for students. SPS teachers and staff will provide hands-on, interactive instruction and additional support based on recently taught content. Instruction will reinforce identified power skills within specific content areas' Standards of Learning.

    This application is for the October 26 session ONLY. A separate registration must be completed for each session. This application closes on Monday, October 21, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. Due to the planning required for the Saturday sessions, late applications will NOT be accepted. Students must apply and receive a notice of acceptance to be allowed to attend. Registration caps will be locked at a maximum of 15 students per class.

    In-person sessions will be held at Elephant’s Fork Elementary School (K-5) and King’s Fork Middle School (6-12). There will be no virtual classes for Saturday Academy. 
    Sessions will be held roughly every other Saturday through May 3, 2025, with holiday adjustments. Please see the 2024-2025 SPS Saturday Academy schedule below:

    2025 - 1/11, 1/25, 2/8, 2/22, 3/8, 3/22, 4/5, 4/26, 5/3

    9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

    Session 1 - 9:00 AM-10:20 AM
    Break/Transition 10:20 AM-10:40 AM
    Session II - 10:40 AM-12:00 PM

    Locations:
    Elephant’s Fork Elementary School (K-5)
    King’s Fork Middle School (6-12)

    Content Focus:
    Elementary K-5 - Math and Reading/Writing

    Middle 6-8 - English 6/7/8, Math 6/7/8, Algebra I, Civics, Science 7
    High 9-12 - Algebra I, Biology, English 9-11, Geometry, World History I

    Will SPS Provide Transportation?
    SPS will provide transportation to and from regional bus stops. Times and locations can be found HERE. If a student is not approved to attend SPS Saturday Academy (via email prior to each session), he/she will not be permitted to ride the bus.


    Can Parents Pick-Up/Drop-Off Their Students?
    Yes,  parents electing to provide transportation for their child will receive a drop-off/pickup document via email. The document should be displayed on the car dashboard. Students can be dropped off for breakfast at 8:45 AM and must be picked up at 12:00 PM.  Parents providing transportation for their child must do so for BOTH drop-off AND pick-up. 

    Please be advised that Secondary students can attend two sessions during the day but must be dropped off AND picked up at the appropriate session time or picked up according to the bus schedule. Violations of the drop-off and pick-up times (school or bus stop) will result in the student not being allowed to attend future sessions.

    Will SPS Provide Food?
    Breakfast and lunch will be provided.


    Will Make-up Work Be Provided?
    Make-up work will NOT be provided.

Saturday Academy Chromebook & Chromebook Fee Waiver

  • Students who attend a full day of Saturday Academy and have an existing Chromebook-related fee will be able to earn their device and/or charger without having to pay the fee.

    • The attendance waiver must be processed, and students will be notified when they can pick up their device. This may take a few days.
    • There will be no refunds for previously paid damages for students attending Saturday Academy.
    • Students cannot earn credit for future charges by attending Saturday Academy.
    • If a student has multiple fees (such as for a damaged device and a lost charger), attendance at Saturday Academy will result in all fees being removed.
    • Students who repeatedly damage devices may be denied the ability to earn the fee waiver due to excessive damages.
