Overview
Welcome to the STAR Cards (Student ID Badge) program—our division’s identity-based safety and convenience system for all students. The STAR Card system is more than just a student ID; it plays an essential role in supporting daily school life. By enhancing student safety during transportation and while on campus, streamlining processes such as meal purchases and library checkouts, and promoting a secure, efficient, and accountable learning environment, STAR Cards provide both practical benefits and added peace of mind for families and staff.- Phase I: Students will use STAR Cards for bus transportation—scanning when boarding and exiting to log ridership—and for identification within the building, including reunification.
- Phase II: We will expand card use to include the following:
- Cafeteria: Scan for meal purchases; if forgotten, students can manually enter their student number.
- Media Center: Use the card to check out books; manual entry is available if the card is not present.
- Attendance: Cards may be required for late arrivals or early dismissals at designated kiosks.

STAR Cards enhance student transportation safety and accountability by logging ridership each time a student scans their card when boarding and exiting the school bus. This creates a real-time record of who is on the bus, when they got on, and where they got off. The system helps ensure accurate headcounts, supports quick identification in case of emergencies, and provides parents and staff with greater peace of mind by confirming student bus usage.
